Study Skills

The links in this section will give you some strategies for making your transition into university learning easier and less stressful. They will also help you gain an understanding of yourself as a learner and to develop study attitudes and techniques that will set you on the path to becoming a highly successful learner.

The Study skills section on the StartUp website provides details of some of the activities and assignments that you will be undertaking during your course of study at Curtin and offers some hints and suggestions to help you succeed.

StudyTrekk takes you through a series of 10 different aspects of learning. Start with Trek 1, or any Trek that interests you, and test your knowledge as you go with the quizzes.

If you are feeling confused about the maze of print and electronic information around you, try InfoTrekk. InfoTrekk takes you through a series of 10 steps you can use to approach any essay or presentation topic, whether you are studying from home or on campus.

InfoTrekk Plus continues on from InfoTrekk, with 10 Treks on finding information such as statistics, Acts of Parliament, theses and more.

The information provided by these resources is intended for quick reference only. There are numerous textbooks and videos devoted to study and communication skills that can be found in the Library online catalogues.
