The Learning Centre provides academic guidance and support for all Curtin students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. The Centre offers free seminar programs conducted by expert lecturers in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Students who attend five seminars and are referred by their supervisor, unit coordinator, or lecturer will have access to individual assistance. On-line resources and services for staff are also available.
OUR PROGRAMS
StudyPlus
Consists of two programs - Study Skills and Strategies (five seminars and selected workshops) and Study Management (five seminars and selected workshops).
PowerPlus Writing
A five-seminar program covering sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, syntax, and writing powerful sentence for academic and professional success.
PowerPlus Essay
A five-seminar program providing guidelines, formulae, hints, and tips for successful essays.
StudyPlus Postgraduate Program
Consists of three programs - Postgraduate Research (five-seminars), Postraduate Writing Workshop A and Postgraduate Writing Workshop B.
Pathfinder Program
A five-seminar program designed to help new students make the transition to studying at Curtin University.
Gateway Program
A five-seminar program especially for students for whom English is an additional language. Covers listening, participating effectively in tutorials, preparing and practising oral presentations, and interacting with lecturers and colleagues.
Grammar MasterClass
A five-seminar program especially for students for whom English is an additional language. It covers the finer points of English usage.
